Building
Bridges is designed to create efficient pilot programs and then once they
have proven successful, to make it possible for those pilot programs to be
implemented by other community based non-profit organizations across the
country. Contra Costa County has been the pilot county for these
programs. In the future, you will be seeing the expansion of these
programs to other counties across the United States.
Building Bridges Recognition Series Building Bridges obtains ad grants and other types of opportunities from time to time that can benefit many non-profits in a community. A few of the pilot programs included:
Valley Yellow Pages - Community Service Space Ad Grants for three years in a row. Valley Yellow Pages President & C.E.O. established his Yellow Pages with a firm commitment and interest in the community. He pioneered a series of community service spaces in his Yellow Pages called the "Community Personality in Focus" which continue to feature prominent individuals who contribute time to the community. During the three years during which Building Bridges and the Valley Yellow Pages worked together, over $300,000 of additional space was granted per year to recognize the outstanding non-profit agencies in the area. This made it possible for the public to have access to and information about valuable non-profit programs available in the community. Here are some examples of the Building Bridges Recognition Series Ads and summaries of the the program:
Building Bridges Concerts for Kids
Building Bridges of Peace Month Building Bridges of Peace Month is created to partner with other public awareness efforts in the county, contributing their connections & resources to promote the events and accomplish the purposes. The pilot Building Bridges of Peace Month partnered with the Health & Safety Fair and the Building Bridges Concerts for Kids events. Future Building Bridges of Peace Months will partner with other public awareness efforts across the country, as appropriate to each community. Building Bridges Postal Cancellation The United Postal Service issues stamps and Postal Cancellations to commemorate significant events and people in history. Stamps are usually issued on a National basis and Postal Cancellations are issued by a local Postmaster. Building Bridges partnered with the United States Postal Service to promote the release of the Breast Cancer Awareness Stamp in Contra Costa County at the same time the first Building Bridges Postal Cancellation was issued. An event, attended by 50 representatives from various non-profit agencies in the county, was held in front of the U.S. Postal Service Walnut Creek Station and broadcast on Contra Costa T.V.
